This method is based on the premise that the rooting zone, which absorbs nutrients and water, is widely distributed throughout the garden area, and the fertilizer is applied to the entire surface of the garden area or is mixed with the soil by plowing the surface very shallow after fertilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000However, the utilization of fertilizer by tree bodies in this fertilization method is said to be about 20 to 30% when the orchard is under clean tillage management and only 1% under grass management. In addition, the assumption that roots are spread over the entire field is not certain in recent orchards, where the soil has become denser due to the driving of pest control machines and other heavy machinery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000On the other hand, local application of fertilizer in the vicinity of the crop roots increases the absorption and utilization of fertilizer, thus making it possible to reduce fertilizer use. In the past, local fertilizer application was done by digging trenches in the shape of an octopus, horseshoe, or radiating from the main trunk by hand or machine (backhoe or trencher) and applying fertilizer to the trenches. However, this method is rarely used today due to labor and other reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000In this study, we examined a fertilizer reduction technique for Japanese pear \"Kosui\" that combines a simple root zone fertilizer application using a compressed air injection soil conditioner and a localized fertilizer application to the soil surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. soil improvement by compressed air injection type soil conditioner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000\u6700\u521d\u306b\uff0c\u4eca\u56de\u691c\u8a0e\u3057\u305f\u5c40\u6240\u65bd\u80a5\u6280\u8853\u306e\u57fa\u790e\u3068\u306a\u308b\u5727\u7e2e\u7a7a\u6c17\u5674\u5c04\u5f0f\u571f\u58cc\u6539\u826f\u6a5f\u306b\u3088\u308b\u571f\u58cc\u6539\u826f\u6280\u8853\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u6982\u7565\u3092\u7d39\u4ecb\u3059\u308b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000In the field, there are many orchards with dense soils that have not been improved by deep tillage. The aforementioned trenching for fertilizer in the shape of a trestle, horseshoe, or radius, which itself doubles as deep tillage, is no longer used due to lack of labor, excessive root breakage, and concern about the spread of white crest feather disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000\u305d\u3053\u3067\uff0c\u5f53\u8a66\u9a13\u5834\u3067\u306f\uff0c\u65e5\u672c\u30ca\u30b7\u300c\u5e78\u6c34\u300d(2000\uff5e2002\u5e74\uff09\u53ca\u3073\u30ab\u30ad\u300c\u5e02\u7530\u67ff\u300d(2012\uff5e2015\u5e74\uff09\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3066\uff0c\u5c02\u7528\u6a5f\u5668\u3092\u7528\u3044\u3066\u5727\u7e2e\u7a7a\u6c17\u3092\u5674\u5c04\u3055\u305b\uff0c\u571f\u58cc\u786c\u5ea6\u3092\u4f4e\u4e0b\u3055\u305b\u308b\u7c21\u6613\u306a\u571f\u58cc\u6539\u826f\u65b9\u6cd5\u306e\u5b9f\u8a3c\u8a66\u9a13\u3092\u884c\u3063\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000The equipment used was a compressed air injection soil conditioner (product name: Growth Gun GR1000, manufactured by Mack Engineering Co. The nozzle is inserted into the soil and a jet of compressed air is injected from the tip of the nozzle.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"365\" height=\"312\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-248.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4794\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-248.png 365w, https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-248-300x256.png 300w, https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-248-14x12.png 14w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 365px) 100vw, 365px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u3000The depth that can be improved is 50 to 60 cm, and the horizontal extent is 40 to 60 cm in radius centered on the nozzle insertion point. The duration of the hardness reduction effect was observed to be about 9 months for heavy fine yellow soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000The effect of the growth and yield of the pear trees treated with the growth gun was not discernible over the two-year test period, but an increase in fine root mass was observed. For oyster trees, yields increased and root activity tended to be higher from the third year of the trial (data omitted).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. 50% fertilizer reduction technology by combining root zone fertilization with local surface fertilization using a growth gun<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000The growth gun can dispense granular fertilizers and soil improvement materials simultaneously with compressed air injection. Therefore, a localized fertilizer application technique that combines soil improvement and fertilizer application was investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000In this fertilization technique, a growth gun is used to improve the soil around the main trunk of the pear tree in late February, just before the roots begin to grow (Photo 2 and 3), and at the same time, base fertilizer is applied to the root zone of the tree (root zone fertilization). Method<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000\u8a66\u9a13\u306f\uff0c\u5357\u4fe1\u8fb2\u696d\u8a66\u9a13\u5834\u306e\u5834\u5185\u307b\u5834\uff08\u6a19\u9ad8560m\uff0c\u6de1\u8272\u9ed2\u30dc\u30af\u571f\uff09\u306b\u304a\u3044\u3066\uff15\u5e74\u9593\uff082018\uff5e2022\u5e74\uff09\u5b9f\u65bd\u3057\u305f\u3002\u4f9b\u8a66\u6a39\u306f\uff0c\u65e5\u672c\u30ca\u30b7\u300c\u5e78\u6c34\u300d\u6210\u6728\u6a39(\u30e4\u30de\u30ca\u30b7\u53f0\uff0c\u8a66\u9a13\u958b\u59cb\u6642\u306e\u6a39\u9f6240\u5e74\u751f\uff0c\u6539\u826f\u6298\u8877\u5f0f\u5e73\u68da\u4ed5\u7acb\u3066\uff13\u672c\u4e3b\u679d\uff09\u3092\u7528\u3044\u305f\u3002\u690d\u683d\u9593\u9694\u306f8.0\uff4d\u00d77.2\uff4d\uff0c\u690d\u683d\u5bc6\u5ea616\u6a39\/10a\uff0c\u8a66\u9a13\u898f\u6a21\u306f\uff11\u533a\uff13\u6a39\u53cd\u5fa9\u7121\u3057\u3068\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000The test plots were a combination of root zone fertilization with a growth gun and local surface fertilization (hereafter referred to as \"root zone fertilization\") and a control plot that roughly corresponded to the local practice (Table 1).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"767\" height=\"391\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u3000\u5bfe\u7167\u533a\u306f\uff0c\u65bd\u80a5\u6642\u671f\u3092\u57fa\u80a5\uff0812\u6708\uff09\uff0b\u8ffd\u80a5\uff11\uff08\uff15\u6708\u4e0a\u65ec\uff09\uff0b\u8ffd\u80a5\uff12\uff08\uff16\u6708\u4e0b\u65ec\uff09\uff0b\u793c\u80a5\uff08\u53ce\u7a6b\u76f4\u5f8c\uff09\u306e\u5e74\uff14\u56de\uff0c\u5e74\u9593\u7a92\u7d20\u65bd\u7528\u91cf\u3092\uff0c10a\u5f53\u305f\u308a\u57fa\u80a58.0kg\uff0b\uff15\u6708\u4e0a\u65ec3.0kg\uff0b\uff16\u6708\u4e0b\u65ec3.0kg\uff0b\u793c\u80a56.0kg\u306e\u8a0820kg\u3068\u3057\u305f\u3002\u4f7f\u7528\u3057\u305f\u80a5\u6599\u306f\uff0c\u57fa\u80a5\u306b\u6709\u6a5f\u5165\u308a\uff22\uff22\u80a5\u6599\uff0810\uff0d\uff16\uff0d\uff18)\uff0c\u8ffd\u80a5\u53ca\u3073\u793c\u80a5\u306b\u306f\u5c3f\u7d20\u3092\u7528\u3044\u305f\u3002\u65bd\u80a5\u65b9\u6cd5\u306f\u3044\u305a\u308c\u306e\u6642\u671f\u3082\u5712\u5730\u5168\u9762\u3078\u306e\u8868\u9762\u65bd\u80a5\u3068\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000In 2018-2020, the control plot received only compressed air impoundment treatment at the same location as the root zone fertilization plot to have the same effect of soil improvement, but in 2021-2022, no compressed air impoundment was applied and no treatment was applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000In the root zone, Good IB (isobutyraldehyde condensed urea, 33% total nitrogen content) was injected into the soil at a depth of 30 to 40 cm at eight equally spaced locations around a distance of 2 m from the main trunk in late February (Photos 2 and 3). The actual amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied was about 5.5 kg\/10a at a planting density of 16 plants\/10a, which was about 50% of the total amount of 11.0 kg of base fertilizer and 1 additional fertilizer applied in early May in the control area, although the amount varied from year to year. The growth gun was a leased machine owned by a local JA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000The fertilizer was applied locally on the surface with urea at 50% of the nitrogen level of the control (1.5 kg in late June and 3.0 kg after harvest) in a 2 m wide ring starting 1 m away from the main trunk (Photo 4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000Annual nitrogen fertilizer application in the root zone was about 10 kg\/10 a, about 50% of the local practice.<br>\u3000\u306a\u304a\uff0c\u8a66\u9a13\uff11\u5e74\u76ee\u306e2018\u5e74\u5ea6\u306f\uff0c\u30b0\u30ed\u30fc\u30b9\u30ac\u30f3\u3067\u51e6\u7406\u3057\u305f\u57fa\u80a5\u306e\u5b9f\u6e2c\u91cf\u304c\u60f3\u5b9a\u3088\u308a\u5c11\u306a\u304f\u306a\u3063\u305f\u305f\u3081\uff0c\uff16\u6708\u4e0b\u65ec\u306e\u7a92\u7d20\u8ffd\u80a5\u91cf\u3092\u5bfe\u7167\u533a\u3068\u540c\u91cf\u306e3.0kg\/10a\u3068\u3057\u305f\u3002\u307e\u305f\uff0c\u30ea\u30f3\u9178\u3068\u52a0\u91cc\u306f\uff0c\u6839\u57df\u65bd\u80a5\u76f4\u5f8c\u306b\u5358\u80a5\uff08\u91cd\u904e\u30ea\u30f3\u9178\u77f3\u7070\uff0c\u30b1\u30a4\u9178\u52a0\u91cc\uff09\u3092\u7528\u3044\u3066\u5199\u771f\uff14\u306b\u793a\u3059\u4f4d\u7f6e\u306b\u6163\u884c\u65bd\u80a5\u91cf\u306e50\uff05\u3092\u8868\u9762\u5c40\u6240\u65bd\u80a5\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(2) Nitrogen leaching progress of Good IB fertilized in the root zone<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000\u30b0\u30c3\u30c9\uff29\uff22\u306f\uff0c\u6839\u57df\u65bd\u80a5\u5f8c\uff13\u9031\u9593\u3067\u7a92\u7d20\u306e20\uff5e30\uff05\u304c\u6eb6\u51fa\u3057\uff0c\u57fa\u80a5\u3068\u3057\u3066\u306e\u52b9\u679c\u304c\u8a8d\u3081\u3089\u308c\u305f\u3002\u305d\u306e\u5f8c\u306f\u5e74\u5ea6\u306b\u3088\u308a\u6eb6\u51fa\u7d4c\u904e\u304c\u7570\u306a\u3063\u305f\u304c\uff0c\uff14\u6708\u4e0b\u65ec\u304b\u3089\uff16\u6708\u4e0b\u65ec\u306e\uff12\u304b\u6708\u9593\u306b\u5404\u5e74\u5ea6\u3068\u3082\u7d0420\uff05\u306e\u7a92\u7d20\u6eb6\u51fa\u304c\u8a8d\u3081\u3089\u308c\uff0c\u5bfe\u7167\u533a\u306e\uff15\u6708\u4e0a\u65ec\u306e\u8ffd\u80a5\uff11\u306b\u76f8\u5f53\u3059\u308b\u65bd\u80a5\u52b9\u679c\u304c\u5f97\u3089\u308c\u305f\uff08\u56f3\uff11)\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n<div root zone fertilization and the control in August 2019, the second year of the trial, and no constant trend was observed (Table 4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000Significant differences in phosphoric acid content were observed in late June 2020, the third year of the study, and in potassium content in late June 2018, June 2021, and July 2022, the first year of the study, but not at other times or years In 2020, the third year of the trial, both sites were treated with compressed air injection by a growth gun, and no significant differences were observed between the two sites, but there was a trend toward more fine roots less than 1 mm thick in the root zone where fertilizer was applied, suggesting that more fine roots were found in the vicinity of the Good IB distribution. In 2022, the fifth year of the experiment, the fruit weights of the root zone fertilization and control were similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000Fruit quality (peel color, firmness, sugar content and acidity) at the peak of harvest did not differ between the two treatments during the five years (Table 6).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img The results were published in 1991 as a map of the world at a scale of 1:10 million according to the type of degradation. The results for the area are shown in Table 1 (Oldeman et al., 1991).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000Table 1 shows that 15% of the world's land area, or 1.96 billion hectares, was degraded by anthropogenic factors. The anthropogenic factors that contribute to soil degradation have already been described in the June issue of this series (Vol. 32). The main factors are inappropriate over-cultivation, overgrazing, and excessive deforestation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000GLASOD classifies degradation into four categories according to its status: water erosion, wind erosion, chemical change, and physical change. Of this total, 84%, or 1.64 billion ha, was soil erosion damage. Water erosion accounted for 1.094 billion hectares, and wind erosion for 548 million hectares. It is clear that the cause of soil degradation in the world at that time was erosion triggered by anthropogenic factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000It should be noted that salinization accounted for only 0.76 billion ha of soil degradation at that time (Table 1). However, as previously mentioned, in 2015, 830 million ha were salinized worldwide (FAO, 2015), showing the tremendous progression of salinization from the end of the 20th century to the present.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"354\" height=\"377\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4809\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-9.png 354w, https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-9-282x300.png 282w, https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-9-11x12.png 11w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 354px) 100vw, 354px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. natural and accelerated erosion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000Soil erosion damage caused by human factors is often triggered by improper soil management. Even in the absence of such conditions, topsoil gradually moves downward on sloping land. This is called natural erosion and is a natural process that produces fertile lowland soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000\u3057\u304b\u3057\uff0c\u5730\u9762\u3092\u8986\u3046\u690d\u7269\u3092\u4eba\u70ba\u7684\u306b\u9664\u53bb\u3057\u3066\u8015\u5730\u5316\u3059\u308b\u3068\uff0c\u571f\u306e\u4fb5\u98df\u901f\u5ea6\u306f\u81ea\u7136\u4fb5\u98df\u306e\u6570\u767e\u500d\u3082\u306e\u65e9\u3055\u3067\u6fc0\u3057\u304f\u306a\u308b\u3002\u3053\u306e\u4eba\u9593\u6d3b\u52d5\u306e\u5f71\u97ff\u3092\u53d7\u3051\u305f\u4fb5\u98df\u3092\u52a0\u901f\u4fb5\u98df\u3068\u3044\u3046\u3002\u81ea\u7136\u4fb5\u98df\u3068\u6bd4\u8f03\u3057\u3066\u305d\u306e\u88ab\u5bb3\u306f\u5927\u304d\u3044\u3002\u30a2\u30e1\u30ea\u30ab\u571f\u58cc\u4fdd\u5168\u5c40\u304c\u3067\u304d\u305f1935\u5e74\u304b\u3089\u307e\u3082\u306a\u304f\u306e\u7814\u7a76\u306f\uff08Bennett\uff0c1939)\uff0c\u8868\u571f\u306e\u9732\u51fa\u5ea6\u306e\u5927\u304d\u3044\u7dbf\u82b1\u306e\u683d\u57f9\u306f\u4fb5\u98df\u88ab\u5bb3\u304c\u5927\u304d\u304f\uff0c\u6291\u5236\u306b\u306f\u8349\u5730\u3068\u3057\u3066\u306e\u571f\u5730\u5229\u7528\u304c\u6700\u3082\u512a\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3092\u660e\u3089\u304b\u306b\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\uff08\u8868\uff12)\u3002\u7267\u8349\u304c\u571f\u3092\u8986\u3044\uff0c\u52a0\u901f\u4fb5\u98df\u3092\u963b\u6b62\u3059\u308b\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"366\" height=\"242\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-10.png 366w, https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-10-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/www.jcam-agri.co.jp\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-10-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 366px) 100vw, 366px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. erosion and salinization damage observed in Central Asia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000The history of soil degradation caused by erosion is long. In particular, the U.S. experienced large-scale erosion damage three times from the period of western settlement to the 1930s, and the Soil Conservation Service was established in the Department of Agriculture based on lessons learned from this experience. However, soil erosion in the U.S. continues to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000\u30a2\u30e1\u30ea\u30ab\u3068\u540c\u69d8\u306b\uff0c\u5927\u898f\u6a21\u98a8\u98df\u88ab\u5bb3\u3092\u7d4c\u9a13\u3057\u305f\u306e\u304c\uff0c\u4e2d\u592e\u30a2\u30b8\u30a2\u306e\u30ab\u30b6\u30d5\u30b9\u30bf\u30f3\u3068\u30bf\u30b8\u30ad\u30b9\u30bf\u30f3\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3002\u65e7\u30bd\u30d3\u30a8\u30c8\u9023\u90a6\u306e\u5168\u8015\u5730\u9762\u7a4d\u306e20\uff05\u306b\u76f8\u5f53\u3059\u308b4,000\u4e07ha\u306e\u571f\u304c\u88ab\u5bb3\u3092\u53d7\u3051\u52a3\u5316\u3057\u305f\u3002\u30ab\u30b6\u30d5\u30b9\u30bf\u30f3\u3068\u30a6\u30ba\u30d9\u30ad\u30b9\u30bf\u30f3\u306e\u56fd\u5883\u5730\u5e2f\u306f\uff0c\u65e7\u30bd\u30d3\u30a8\u30c8\u9023\u90a6\u306e\u300c\u81ea\u7136\u6539\u9020\u8a08\u753b\u300d\u306b\u3088\u3063\u3066\uff0c\u8349\u539f\u304b\u3089\u7dbf\u82b1\u7551\u306b\u6539\u9020\u3055\u308c\u305f\u3002\u4e7e\u71e5\u5730\u57df\u306b\u3064\u304f\u3089\u308c\u305f\u7dbf\u82b1\u7551\u306b\u306f\u704c\u6f11\u6c34\u304c\u5fc5\u8981\u3067\uff0c\u30d1\u30df\u30fc\u30eb\u9ad8\u539f\u3068\u5929\u5c71\u5c71\u8108\u306e\u878d\u96ea\u6c34\u3092\u6c34\u6e90\u3068\u3059\u308b\u30a2\u30e0\u30c0\u30ea\u30a2\u5ddd\u3068\u30b7\u30eb\u30c0\u30ea\u30a2\u5ddd\u304b\u3089\u53d6\u6c34\u3055\u308c\u305f\u3002\u305d\u306e\u7d50\u679c\uff0c\u30a6\u30ba\u30d9\u30ad\u30b9\u30bf\u30f3\u306e\u7dbf\u82b1\u751f\u7523\u306f\u4e16\u754c\uff15\u4f4d\u306b\u306a\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000However, as a result, the Aral Sea (about 100 times the size of Lake Biwa), into which the water from both rivers poured, dried up. This is because the water supply to the Aral Sea was cut off by the intake of water from both rivers. The Aral Sea shrank to 10% of its original area and became the Aral Khan Desert. Wind erosion from the desert has scattered 75 million tons of dust and salt containing toxic chemicals annually (Hoshino, 2011). The water taken from the Amu Darya River has been inadequately used, and the soil has become salinated and degraded to the point that cultivation has been abandoned.
